Where to Buy all of Your Baking Needs!

In any major US City (and some not so major) there are an inordinate amount of places where someone might acquire all of their baking needs. In Montreal, where I live, we are not so fortunate. We have a few staple places that I will list. These are amazing places, heaven on earth for any serious baker. Sometimes, though, they don't always have what you may be looking for. To remedy this problem, I will also offer online resources where you can find any baking tool under the sun.

Montreal Baking Supply Stores
1) Ares Kitchen and Baking Supplies: From bakeware to cake decorating supplies, this place has it all. Or almost all.
2) Monas and Company Ltd.: This place is actually a restaurant supply store that has been servicing the food industry in Montreal since 1967. Although they do have a lot of products unnecessary for baking (I was tempted to buy a giant pizza oven) they do keep a number of useful baking tools in stock. It is the perfect store if you know you will be baking for a large amount of people.

That's about as far as baking supply stores go in Montreal. I told you we were unfortunate. If you happen to live in Montreal and find your baking endeavors hampered by the limited resources available at your disposal, fret not! The internet is a pretty awesome place (after all, it led you to me!).

Internet Resources for Baking Supplies
1) Wilton: The be all website for baking. Not only do they offer countless recipes for every sort of baked good, they also show you what tools you need to make each recipe. These tools can be purchased in the Wilton online store. For those of you wanting to hone your basic skills (or develop basic skills, no judging!!), The Wilton School offers some amazing courses that range from simple tasks like cupcake decorating to advanced workshops in a range of topics. Since most of us don't have the time to take off work or school to go to Darien, Illinois where the facility is located, The Wilton School also offers specific courses at temporary locations throughout The United States and Canada. To find Wilton classes at a location near you, search here
2) Williams-Sonoma: Unlike Wilton, this site can solve ALL of your cooking AND baking needs. It really is an amazing resource, and should I ever win the lottery I guarantee this will be my first stop. Warning: Some of the products offered on this website are a tad overpriced.
3) King Arthur Flour: For the lazy, (or busy, again no judgement!) baker. This site is loaded with tools, recipes, tricks, you name it!! They also make really helpful pre-made mixes and batters for when you need to bake something but don't have the time to acquire the necessary ingredients and carry out a long, convoluted recipe. This site is also a great place to buy gifts for a host or hostess when going to a dinner party.
